German 8.8cm Flak 36/37 is a plastic kit of the celebrated German 88 mm gun in 1:35 scale from the manufacturer Trumpeter.

An injection-molded plastic kit of the German anti-aircraft and anti-tank gun of 8.8 cm caliber in the Flak 36/37 version, in 1:35 scale from the brand Trumpeter. It is not a vehicle but an artillery piece, built complete with its carriage. Check the actual package contents, the number of parts and the presence of transport bogies, figures or photo-etched parts on the box.
The eighty-eight is among the best known guns of the Second World War. It came about as an anti-aircraft gun with a high muzzle velocity and a long reach, but its ballistics also made it an exceptionally effective anti-tank weapon against which practically no contemporary armor stood up for long. The weapon was built on a cruciform carriage, which was raised onto a pair of transport bogies for moving, and in the firing position the crew lowered it to the ground and leveled it. The Flak 36 and Flak 37 versions grew out of the earlier Flak 18 and differ mainly in the sectional construction of the barrel, in changes to the carriage and, in the case of the 37, in the way fire control data was passed to the crew. The gun served on every front, in the air defense of the German homeland and as the mainstay of anti-tank defense, and its shape became one of the symbols of the equipment of the period.
A gun is built above all on geometry: see to it that the arms of the carriage sit symmetrically and that the barrel has the right elevation. Keep the assembly split into subassemblies as long as you can so that it can be painted; the carriage, the shield and the barrel spray far better separately. Lay a primer under the paint, pick out the covers and mechanisms with a dark wash and carefully dry-brush the edges. Drill out the muzzle of the barrel, or at least deepen it, because that is exactly what everyone sees on a finished model. A gun position comes into its own on a small diorama base with ammunition crates and traces of the crew in the ground; pigments on the lower part of the carriage will give the whole thing scale.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
