An injection-molded plastic kit of the modern German Leopard 2 main battle tank in the 2A5 and 2A6 versions in 1:35 scale from Hobby Boss. The box contains parts in gray plastic, one-piece (band) tracks, photo-etched parts and a decal sheet. The model is assembled and painted according to the enclosed instructions.
The Leopard 2 is a German main battle tank which has formed the backbone of the armored forces of the Bundeswehr and of a number of other armies since the 1980s. The 2A5 version brought the conspicuous wedge-shaped add-on armor on the front of the turret and an improved fire control system, while the 2A6 version went over to the longer 120 mm L/55 gun, which raised penetration. The vehicle is powered by a multi-fuel MTU diesel engine and the crew consists of the commander, the gunner, the loader and the driver.
First assemble and glue the running gear and the road wheels, and only then close the hull and the turret. It is a good idea to paint and weather the one-piece tracks before they are fitted. For the standard NATO three-color camouflage (green, brown, black) use an airbrush, bring out the panel lines with a dark wash and apply dust and mud pigments to the lower hull and the running gear for realistic weathering.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
