This kit from the Chinese manufacturer Modelcollect in 1:35 scale belongs to its range focused on projected and unbuilt designs. It renders a medium tank of the E-50 series with a 10.5 cm gun with a barrel 52 calibers long; the designation Panther III Ausf.F is a fictional name chosen by the manufacturer, not a service designation of the period. The model comes as a conventional injection-molded plastic kit to be assembled and painted.
The E series, that is Entwicklung, was a set of design proposals from the end of the Second World War whose aim was to simplify and unify the production of armored vehicles into a few weight classes. The E-50 category was to replace the existing medium tanks and allowed for revised running gear without interleaved road wheels, which was to make production and maintenance easier. None of the proposals of this class got beyond the paper stage and no prototype was built, so the entire rendering is based on surviving documentation and on the model maker's interpretation.
On an armored vehicle it pays to finish and paint the running gear before the hull is closed and the fenders fitted, as otherwise you cannot reach the wheels later. Fill and sand the seams on the hull so that they do not disturb the flat surface. After the base color comes the weathering: a dark wash into the recesses around the rivets and hatches, dust pigments on the lower areas and a fine dry brush on the edges. Check the fit of the barrel halves before gluing, because any seam is clearly visible on a long barrel.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
