An injection-molded plastic kit of the German Schwertwal midget submarine in 1:35 scale from the Ukrainian manufacturer Mikromir. The model captures a small experimental vessel with a markedly streamlined hull. The larger 1:35 scale allows a decent level of detail.
The Schwertwal (killer whale) was a German experimental midget submarine project of the end of the Second World War. It was a fast underwater vessel of advanced conception that was to use a special propulsion solution. The project never got beyond the development and prototype stage and reached neither series production nor combat. It is an entirely different class from the Delphin midget submarine.
We glue the hull with liquid cement for plastic and sand the joints carefully because of the smooth shape. We recommend an undercoat and airbrush spraying in shades of naval gray, a fine wash on the hatches and a light patina for the effect of service on the water.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
