An injection-molded plastic kit in 1:35 scale from AK Interactive. The package contains over 250 plastic parts for one car and a section of track, a photo-etched part and decals for one marking option. No tank or other vehicle is included: the car serves as a carrier for armor from your own collection or as a striking foundation for a diorama.
The SSys type was a heavy four-axle railway flatcar that the Germans used in the Second World War to move vehicles and materiel weighing up to about 50 tons. It could carry most light and medium tanks and self-propelled guns: the Panzer I to IV, the Panther, the Jagdpanther, the StuG III and IV, the Nashorn, the Wespe, the Hummel and many others. The heaviest tanks such as the Tiger I and Tiger II and their derivatives called for heavier six-axle cars. Rail transport was crucial for moving armored units quickly around Europe.
Glue the parts with a liquid cement for plastic, which is drawn into the joint by capillary action and leaves a clean seam. Apply a primer before painting, ideally with an airbrush. Build the wooden deck of the car up from a brown base and bring out the growth rings and the cracks with a dry brush. Pick out the metal fittings, the running gear and the axles with a dark wash; rust and dust pigments will give the car the authentic patina of service. The enclosed section of track is a rewarding foundation for a diorama with a vehicle loaded on board.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
