The real subject

Fu 2 and Fu 5 are designations of German radio sets used in armored vehicles during the Second World War. The set was stowed in the fighting compartment of the vehicle, usually on shelves or brackets by the radio operator's station, and belonged to the equipment that is visible on a model only with the hatch open or on a vehicle with an exposed interior.

What the set is for

It completes the interior of a model with two sets. It suits a vehicle with a built interior, a partly opened diorama scene, or a small accessory on the cargo area. Where exactly the set belonged in your vehicle should be checked against period documentation or against the kit instructions. Two sets in the package also make it possible to equip two models, or to use one as a spare in case the first is damaged during the build.

How to work with it

• the parts are not polystyrene, and cement for plastic models has no effect on them, so use cyanoacrylate glue
• cut excess material away with a sharp blade a little clear of the part and sand the rest back
• wash and degrease before painting, otherwise paint will not hold on the smooth surface
• paint the set and add the shadows before you seat it in the vehicle, as afterwards you can no longer reach it

Who it is for

The set is for a builder who opens the hatches and wants the inside of the vehicle occupied. For a closed model there is no point in buying it; nothing of it will be visible. The vehicle model, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
