1:35 German WWII 3,7cm KwK35 Ammo

The real subject

The 3.7 cm caliber belonged to German tank armament of the first half of the war. A gun of this caliber was carried by the early forms of the Panzer III medium tank, and a round of it could still be handed along easily with one hand, which shows on a model: against the later calibers it is slim and long. It is precisely small ammunition that does more for the credibility of a scene, in an open hull or beside a crate on the ground, than many a large part.

What the set offers

The set adds rounds for a 3.7 cm tank gun to a model in 1:35 scale. The number of pieces, and whether the package also holds empty cases or transport containers, is given in the manufacturer's instructions. The uses are obvious: an open stowage space in the hull, a loader at the gun, a crate of ammunition beside the vehicle or cases scattered at a firing position.

Building and painting tips

The parts are not polystyrene, so cement for polystyrene does not hold on them; use super glue or a two-part adhesive. Cut the surplus material and the traces of production away with a sharp blade a little way from the part and sand the remainder off. Wash the parts before painting, degrease them and apply a primer. A brass case and a dark projectile side by side need contrast rather than shine: metal comes out better from a muted shade with the edges lightly polished than from a bright yellow color. The work is small, so tweezers and a surface a small part cannot roll off onto the floor pay off.

Who it is for

For builders of dioramas and for modelers who open up the inside of a vehicle or build a firing position in 1:35 scale. The model, paints and glue are not included in the box, unless stated otherwise.
