Hanomag was among the well-known German makers of utility machines and the RL-20 type was a light wheeled tractor originally meant for farm work. Machines of this kind found themselves during the war in the service of the army as well, because they suited towing trailed equipment and guns and working at airfields. Plusmodel offers the real subject in 1:35 scale.
The design built on simplicity: sturdy wheels, an exposed engine and an open driver's place. It is precisely this plainness that makes the real subject a rewarding theme, because the mechanical parts that stay hidden on armored machines are visible on it. In a scene it suits a farmyard, a field airfield and a repair unit.
Paint the engine and the gearbox before you cover them with panels, because afterward a brush will not reach them. Wheels with pronounced lugs come into their own when a darker shade is let run into the hollows. The tractor will take civilian coloring as well, for example gray or green, and worn edges around the footplates look very believable. Fit the driver's seat only at the end; it is then easy to get a brush under it and to the control levers by the feet.
The tractor comes in an unassembled and unpainted state. The package contains neither glue nor paints, unless stated otherwise.
