A set of cut masks in 1:35 scale for a model of the Israeli Nagmachon heavy armored personnel carrier. It is neither a kit nor a resin accessory but a painting aid: you stick the masks on the areas that are to stay unsprayed or to get a different shade, spray over them and take them off once dry. On a vehicle with a host of vision blocks, optics and small glazed elements, masking saves more time than it seems at first glance.
The Nagmachon is a heavy armored personnel carrier of the Israeli ground forces built on the chassis of the Centurion tank. It came about through a rebuild: in place of the turret it carries a raised superstructure with armored observation stations, backed up by further protection of the sides and the belly of the hull. The design answers service in built-up terrain, where resistance to a side hit and to mines counts for more than speed. It exists in more than one version, and these differ in the shape of the superstructure and in the extent of the add-on armor.
Wash and degrease the areas before masking, because a mask does not hold on a greasy surface and paint creeps underneath. Lift the parts with tweezers and press them down with a wooden stick, so that the edge settles. Spray the paint in several thin coats. Take the mask off while the paint has only just set, and pull it sideways rather than straight up. With military vehicles it pays off to mask before the weathering, so that the washes and pigments then cover the whole area including the transitions.
This is a masking aid, not a model. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package.
