An injection-molded plastic model of the Israeli Merkava Mk.IV main battle tank in 1:35 scale from Hobby Boss. It is a new mold with a richly broken-up hull and turret; besides the plastic parts the box also contains photo-etched sheet and decals.
The Merkava Mk.IV is the newest generation of the Israeli Merkava family of main battle tanks. It follows the family's typical layout with the engine at the front and puts the emphasis on the protection and survival of the crew. Compared with the older versions it received a modernized turret, heavier modular armor, a more powerful powerplant and an upgraded fire control system. The tank is armed with a 120 mm smoothbore gun and has been used in conflicts in the Middle East.
With a tank it pays to assemble and paint the running gear, the wheels and the tracks before the hull is closed and the side skirts are fitted. Glue the plastic parts with thin modeling cement for plastic and the photo-etched parts with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Apply a primer before painting and spray the sandy gray of Israeli equipment with an airbrush in thin coats. Volume is added by picking out the edges, dark washes in the recesses and pigments for dust and mud effects on the chassis and the tracks, where the chain protection at the rear of the turret also sits.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
