1:35 Industry arched windows No.: 11 - window elements for an industrial set piece

This is an accessory for building a diorama, not a model of equipment. The set brings window elements with an arched head in 1:35 scale; according to the name it contains three pieces and this is version number 11 from the numbered range of industrial windows from RT-Diorama.

A window as a source of depth

A window opening is the only place where the viewer of a diorama looks inside a building. That is precisely why it decides whether a set piece looks like a structure or like a thin board. With factory halls that holds doubly: the glazed areas were large, so a view inside is unavoidable. It therefore pays to suggest at least a piece of interior behind the window - the rest of a wall, a beam, a heap of rubble or the outline of a machine. A few centimeters of depth are enough and the scene will take effect, even though you do not actually see further into the building.

Building and painting tips

• Glue a dark area with a suggested texture in behind the window; an even black comes across flat, while slight shades sell the depth.
• A lighter frame against a dark interior will bring out the shape of the arch, so watch for that contrast when painting.
• Concentrate dust and building dirt on the sill and the lower part of the reveal, where water would carry them.
• You will imitate cracked panes with thin scratches into a clear film from the reverse side.
