Eduard 1:35 Jagdpanzer IV L/48 is a photo-etched accessory set for a model of the German tank destroyer in 1:35 scale. It is not a kit of the vehicle but equipment for raising the detail.

This set from the Czech maker Eduard adds parts of thin metal sheet to a model of the Jagdpanzer IV L/48 in 1:35 scale. Photo-etching is used where injection-molded plastic cannot have a realistic thickness: on tool clamps, eyes, hinges, grilles above the engine compartment and sheet metal covers. The set is not a kit and cannot be used without the plastic model of the vehicle.
The Jagdpanzer IV was a German tank destroyer built on the chassis of the Panzer IV medium tank. Instead of a rotating turret it had a fixed casemate with a low silhouette and steeply sloped frontal armor; the gun was mounted rigidly in the hull, so aiming was done by turning the whole vehicle. The L/48 designation refers to the length of the gun barrel in multiples of the caliber, that is to the earlier and shorter armament variant as against the later version with a longer barrel. The low build and the smooth sloping surfaces make the model a rewarding object for weathering as well as for adding fine fittings.
Separate the parts with a sharp scalpel on a hard surface and deburr the remains of the tabs with a file. Make the bends along the scored grooves, best of all in a photo-etch bending tool; on long narrow parts work in sections, so that the sheet does not twist. Degrease the metal and glue with cyanoacrylate glue applied with a pin. Apply an adhesion primer before painting. Fit the photo-etched parts before the weathering, so that a wash and pigments act the same on metal as on plastic; with the running gear and the tools on the hull it works well to finish the assembly before the hull is finally closed up.
The set is an accessory to a kit. The kit itself, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
