F-15E Strike Eagle cockpit set is a detail accessory in 1:48 scale from the Czech maker Aires. It combines resin castings with photo-etched metal and replaces the entire two-seat cockpit of the plastic model.

This is a detail accessory, not an aircraft kit. The set replaces the cockpit of the 1:48 F-15E model with a more accurate rendering: it holds resin castings of the cockpit tub, the seats, the instrument panels and the side consoles, together with photo-etched parts such as the seat belts and fine levers and handles. Aires is one of the leading Czech makers of accessories and its cockpit sets have long been regarded as the standard in this category.
The McDonnell Douglas, today Boeing, F-15E Strike Eagle is the two-seat strike version of the F-15 fighter. The pilot sits in the front cockpit and the weapon systems officer in the rear one, whose station differs markedly from the pilot's in the layout of its displays and controls. It is precisely this asymmetry of the two cockpits that is clearly visible on the model under an open canopy and decides whether the model looks convincing.
Wash the castings in lukewarm soapy water to remove mold release residue. Cut the casting blocks off with a fine saw and level them by wet sanding with respiratory protection. Bond the resin with super glue, and the photo-etched parts likewise with cyanoacrylate in small amounts applied with a pin. The cockpit tub usually needs fitting, so dry-fit it in the fuselage halves several times and take material off the sides and the bottom bit by bit. Painting: a base dark gray shade for the cockpit, the instruments and displays in black with spot highlights, and finally a dark wash and a light dry brush along the edges. The seat belts come into their own once they are bent into a natural shape and lightly dusted with pigment.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The base model, glue and paints are not included in the package.
