An accessory, not a kit of the vehicle. It replaces the gun mantlet and the barrel from the boxed kit of the Jagdpanzer IV with the 7.5 cm PaK 39 gun of 48 calibers in barrel length. The turned barrel has a circular cross section along its whole length and a smooth muzzle, so there is no cleaning up of the mold seam, which on an injection-molded part always disturbs the shape a little.
What sets this version apart: the barrel is without a muzzle brake. That matches the vehicles on which the muzzle brake was dispensed with. The manufacturer also makes versions with the double-baffle and with the early muzzle brake alongside it.
The Jagdpanzer IV was a tank destroyer on the chassis of the Panzer IV with a low casemate superstructure of sloped armor plates. The gun was mounted in the front wall, with no rotating turret. The muzzle brake carried by the early production series was later omitted, because the dust stirred up after a shot gave away the position of the vehicle. A barrel without a brake is therefore typical of the later machines.
Before you start gluing, try the part dry and remove any excess from the plastic part, not from the barrel. Degrease the smoothly finished surface and spray it with a primer, otherwise the paint will not hold on the barrel. A smooth barrel without a brake comes into its own nicely if you pick out the muzzle with a dark shade and lightly dust the area around the mantlet with pigment.
The accessory is supplied unpainted. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
