1:35 Jungle Plant No.5

Jungle plant No.5 in 1:35 scale

The accessory 1:35 Jungle Plant No.5 belongs to the numbered RT-Diorama range of tropical vegetation. It is not a model of a vehicle or a figure but an element of the setting for dioramas and vignettes. The number in the name distinguishes the individual variants of the range, which can be built side by side to create growth with no visible repetition.

Tropical battlefields as a subject

The jungle is among the most rewarding settings in military modeling. The fighting for Guadalcanal and New Guinea, the campaign in Burma, the French and the American war in Indochina or later conflicts in Africa and Central America - in all of them it is dense greenery that establishes the character of a scene. Vegetation also helps to tell a story: a plant run over by wheels or tracks says more about the action than the best-painted vehicle standing in a void.

Tips for placing it in the scene

• Leave the growth at the edge of a road damaged; at an untouched edge it tends to be at its densest.
• Carry the vegetation behind the main subject too; the scene thereby gains a background.
• Do not try to cover every centimeter; views through are what make a scene readable.
• Choose the way of fixing it according to the groundwork of the scene and the make of the parts.

• Modelers of Pacific, Indochinese and African subjects.
