The Quinta Studio set is 3D printed directly onto decal paper and is supplied already painted. These are not resin parts to be glued but a decal with a real thickness and three-dimensional relief, applied the wet way. The set is cut for the Italeri kit in 1:35 scale. On an open vehicle the interior is visible all the time, so the detail shows here more than on closed bodies.
The Kübelwagen type 82 was a light cross-country car with an open body, an air-cooled four-cylinder engine at the rear and a simple sheet-metal shell. Its hallmarks are low weight, a folding windshield, a canvas roof and utterly austere equipment. The interior consists of a simple instrument panel, a bare floor, simple seats and a minimum of controls, so the set answers exactly those areas that on an open vehicle are in view from every angle.
Spray the interior with a base color first, so that the plastic does not show through the thin layer. Cut the elements out with a sharp scalpel, soak them in warm water and slide them into place; the position can be adjusted with a brush and water and the excess moisture blotted away with a cotton swab. Do not use a decal softener or a setting solution, because their chemistry would damage the printed resin and ruin the element. Only press the element down with a soft brush and do not run the brush over it, or the relief will smear or tear. On edges and in corners work in two stages with drying in between. Even the finished interior out with a matte varnish; and because on an open vehicle it is always in view, a fine dusting of pigment at the very end pays off.
This is an accessory set, not a model. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package.
