This resin detail set from PANZER ART represents a replacement barrel for the leFH 18 howitzer with a protective canvas, as carried by the Wespe self-propelled howitzer. It is not a model of the whole vehicle but an accessory, which will raise the realism of a base kit and replace the less detailed plastic barrel.
The leFH 18 was the German 10.5 cm light field howitzer, one of the main artillery weapons of the Wehrmacht. The self-propelled Wespe version (the Sd.Kfz. 124) carried this howitzer on the chassis of the Pz.Kpfw. II tank. The crews commonly stretched a canvas over the barrel, which protected the muzzle and the mechanism from dust and weather.
Wash the mold release agent off the casting, cut off the casting block and true the mating surface up. Bond the resin with super glue. The texture of the canvas comes out once it is painted with a base coat, lightened with a dry brush and the folds picked out with a wash.
