This set contains photo-etched metal parts intended to refine a model of the American M1A1/M1A2 Abrams main battle tank in 1:35 scale. It is not a standalone vehicle model but an accessory with which you replace coarser plastic elements with accurate, paper-thin metal parts. The set is made by the Japanese brand Tamiya.
The photo-etched parts faithfully capture the grilles and screens of the engine compartment on the upper hull, the rail of the machine gun mount at the hatch and the basket at the rear of the vehicle. Thin metal looks far more realistic in scale than thicker plastic and markedly lifts the final impression a model makes.
Separate the parts from the fret with a sharp knife on a cutting surface, bend them with a bender or with two razor blades and bond them with super glue or two-part epoxy. Before filling and painting we recommend degreasing the metal and spraying it with a primer so that the paint holds well.
This is an accessory, not a standalone model. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
