A photo-etched set for the M3 Lee and Grant tank in 1:35 scale adds metal details that a plastic molding cannot capture.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of thin metal parts for the American M3 medium tank in its two best-known forms. This is an upgrade for a kit, not a standalone model, and it assumes you already have the plastic base.
The M3 was a stopgap but important solution: the main gun of 75 mm caliber sat in the right side of the hull with limited traverse, while the rotating turret carried a smaller weapon of 37 mm caliber. The American rendition was given the nickname Lee, and the British modification with a different turret carried the name Grant. The vehicles made their mark in the fighting in North Africa in 1942 and a considerable part of production also went to units on the Eastern Front.
The tall, box-like hull of the M3 offers plenty of flat areas on which grab handles, lifting eyes and fine stiffeners will stand out. Work from the bottom and from the rear, so that the finished sections do not get in the way of the next steps. Cut away the thick plastic moldings that the photo-etch replaces and level the surface smooth. The metal parts need a primer; without it the shade rubs off them during ordinary handling of the finished model.
The metal parts go onto a plastic model that you obtain separately, as are the paints and the tools.
