An injection-molded plastic kit of the American M35A1 Gun Truck from the Vietnam War in 1:35 scale from the AFV Club brand. The model captures a truck of the M35 family converted into an armed convoy escort - with an armored box on the cargo bed and a traversing machine-gun mount. The package contains a detailed ladder frame, rubber tires, photo-etched parts, a decal sheet and the parts of the machine-gun armament.
Gun trucks were field conversions of the standard 2.5-ton M35 trucks that the US Army built in Vietnam to protect supply convoys. An improvised armored box and a traversing mount with machine guns were fitted on the cargo bed - often a set of four .50 caliber machine guns (a Maxson mount). The crews decorated their vehicles with lettering and paintings and every one was an original in its own way. The concept proved itself and many variants came about.
Assemble the frame with the chassis and the cab, then the armored superstructure and the machine-gun mount. Glue the parts with liquid cement for plastic and the photo-etched parts with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Apply a primer and spray olive green with an airbrush; the individual lettering and paintings on the sides of the box are characteristic. Heavy weathering suits this kind of equipment - a wash, paint chipping, and dust and mud on the tires and the chassis with the help of pigments.
