About product

M3A1 Scout Car 1:35 (Tamiya)

An injection-molded plastic kit of the American M3A1 Scout Car reconnaissance vehicle in 1:35 scale from Tamiya. The model gives detailed attention to the open fighting compartment with its machine gun armament, to the front unditching roller and to the well-worked interior fittings and gear levers.

The real subject

The M3A1 Scout Car was a lightly armored four-wheeled vehicle of which around 21000 examples were built. It served with American as well as Allied units under the Lend-Lease program and was deployed in the reconnaissance and command roles in North Africa, on Sicily and on the Eastern Front. It carried a heavy machine gun and lighter machine guns and took a sizeable crew.

Building and painting tips

The open interior calls for careful building and painting before the hull is closed up. Glue the parts with liquid cement for plastic and, after the filler primer, lay the olive shade on with an airbrush. Bring out the interior and the armament with a wash and drybrushing and suggest dust with light pigments.

Who the model is for

  • Admirers of American reconnaissance vehicles
  • Builders of armored vehicles of the Second World War
  • Modelers who enjoy detailing an interior
  • Collectors of 1:35 scale

The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
