A separate injection-molded plastic set of the VVSS vertical volute spring suspension with a horizontal return roller in 1:35 scale from AFV Club. It is not a complete tank model but an add-on sub-assembly of the running gear: it contains bogies with road wheels, return rollers and, as a rule, drive sprockets and idler wheels as well. The set can supplement or replace the running gear on M4 Sherman models in this scale.
The VVSS (Vertical Volute Spring Suspension) was used by the early and mid-war versions of the M4 Sherman tank and by other vehicles on its chassis. The system consisted of three-wheel bogies with vertical volute springs; the variant with a horizontally mounted return roller is typical of the later VVSS design.
This is injection-molded plastic – it is glued with thin modeling plastic cement. Assemble the movable suspension arm according to the instructions and let the running gear dry fully before you hang the tracks. The wheels and rollers come into their own once the rubber tires are shaded and dusted with pigments; mud and dust effects on the running gear add to the realism.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
