An injection-molded plastic kit in 1:35 scale from the maker I Love Kit. The model captures the American M55 heavy self-propelled howitzer with its 203 mm gun; the package holds photo-etched parts and individual track links. The kit is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
The M55 was an American heavy self-propelled howitzer of the 1950s which in its design shared a number of features with the M46 and M47 Patton medium tanks. It carried a 203 mm howitzer, with which it replaced the older M53 type and its 155 mm gun; the heavier ammunition, however, cut down the number of rounds carried. Production ran through the 1950s and a number of machines were created by conversion from the M53. The M55 saw action, among other places, in the fighting during American involvement in the Vietnam War.
On armored vehicles, finish and paint the running gear before you close the hull. Glue the parts with thin cement for plastic and the fine photo-etched parts with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue); assemble the individual track links patiently so that the track sags naturally. Apply primer and paint with an airbrush in the base Olive Drab. Bring out the recesses and the riveting with a dark wash and the edges with a dry brush, and dust the running gear with dust and mud pigments.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
