Cut Eduard 1:48 Sea King HAS.1/HAS.5/HU.5 masking stencils for the glazing and the wheels. They speed up painting and spare you the laborious taping.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set holds pre-cut self-adhesive masks cut to the shape of the glazing of the Sea King helicopter in 1:48 scale. These are not decals or parts of the model but an aid for painting: you stick the mask on the glass, spray the frame and take it off once it has dried. The frames then come out sharp and straight, which with the rounded glazing of the Sea King is hard to achieve by taping it by hand. According to the name the set can be used for the HAS.1, HAS.5 and HU.5 versions.
The Westland Sea King is the British license version of the Sikorsky S-61. The HAS.1 and HAS.5 versions served for submarine hunting, while the HU.5 came about by converting them into a general purpose and rescue version without the antisubmarine equipment. All share the same characteristic nose with large front glazing and side cabin windows. It is that dense network of frames that makes the most work during painting and shows most clearly whether the model was masked properly.
Wash the glazing before masking and let it dry thoroughly, because on a greasy surface the mask holds badly and the paint creeps under it. Lift the mask off its backing with tweezers and press it down with a stick or the tip of a toothpick, not with a fingernail. Spray the paint in thin coats; one heavy coat creeps under more readily than three light ones. Peel the mask off shortly after the paint has dried, not after several days, and pull it back over itself rather than straight upward. Wipe off any adhesive residue with a cotton swab moistened in spirit.
