An injection-molded plastic kit of the American light tank M5A1 in 1:35 scale from Tamiya. This release contains four figures and a hedgerow cutter, which the tanks had welded to the nose during the fighting in the Normandy hedgerow country. The welded and bolted areas of the turret and the hull are faithfully done for a crisp final look.
The M5A1 was developed from the M3 Stuart light tank and was accepted into service in September 1942, with production running from January 1943. It was powered by a pair of Cadillac gasoline V8 engines, which gave it a decent turn of speed. It was armed with a 37 mm gun and machine guns and was used mainly for reconnaissance on the Italian and the Western European fronts. About 6800 of them were built.
Finish and paint the running gear, the wheels and the lower hull before you close the hull up. Glue the plastic with a liquid modeling cement. Over a primer, spray the basic American olive drab. A dark wash in the recesses and the engraved lines draws out the detail and drybrushing picks out the edges. The hedgerow cutter and the lower areas show up well with dust and mud pigments. The four figures let you set the model straight into a small scene.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
