About product

M6 Gun Motor Carriage WC-55 1:35 (Italeri)

An injection-molded plastic kit of the light tank destroyer in 1:35 scale from Italeri. The package contains parts in hard plastic, a transparent part for the glazing, decals and instructions. It is a kit of medium difficulty with respectable detail on the body and the armament.

The real subject

The M6 Gun Motor Carriage was created by converting the proven Dodge WC 4x4 off-road truck, with a 37 mm anti-tank gun mounted on its rear cargo bed. The Dodge six-cylinder engine allowed respectable speed on the road. The US Army deployed these vehicles from the end of 1942 on practically every front, from the Mediterranean through the European theater to the Pacific. In their day they were a fast but lightly armored answer to mobile anti-tank defense.

Building and painting tips

Assemble and paint the interior of the body and the gun mounting first, and only then close the whole thing up. Glue the plastic with thin modeling cement and sand the edges where necessary. Spray a primer as the base, the main color with an airbrush, and bring the surface back to life with washes and dry pigments for mud and dust effects. Small differences in height on the tarpaulin and the load stand out once the deep shadows are brought forward.

Who the model is for

  • Collectors of American Second World War equipment
  • Diorama builders and lovers of detail in 1:35 scale
  • Modelers with basic experience of building vehicles

The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
