It holds six pieces of the French MAT-49 submachine gun and eight M37 hand grenades. It serves to arm figures, to place around a diorama as laid-down kit or to replace the coarser plastic weapons from ordinary kits.
The MAT-49 submachine gun is a French post-war design with a sliding shoulder stock and a magazine housing that folds forward, thanks to which the weapon can be carried in a smaller volume. In modeling practice the set suits figures of French units in Indochina and scenes where these weapons appeared later in Vietnam. Six pieces in the package make it possible to arm a whole group of figures uniformly, and the grenades can be used both hung on kit and loose in a scene. Resin castings have markedly sharper detail than weapons molded from plastic in kits, mainly on the sights, the sling loops and the surface of the magazine.
The set is intended for builders of dioramas in 1:35 scale who want to raise the level of detail of the armament, and for modelers putting a scene with French units together. Experience of working resin and of handling fine parts is assumed.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and figures are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
