The Maus V1 and V2 (2 in 1, limited edition) is a plastic kit of the German super-heavy tank in 1:35 scale from Takom. One box builds either of the two surviving prototypes.

From one box either of the two prototypes of the German Maus super-heavy tank can be built, that is the V1 as well as the V2. The model is meant to be glued and painted and the parts are injection-molded in plastic. The exact contents of the box (the number of sprues, any photo-etch or the marking scheme) are given by Takom on the packaging and in the enclosed instructions.
The Panzerkampfwagen VIII Maus was a German super-heavy experimental tank of the end of World War II. It is the heaviest fully armored combat vehicle ever built, with a combat weight of around 188 tons. Only two prototypes were made, V1 and V2, and they never took part in the fighting. The first prototype was tested at first without a turret, while the second already received a complete turret with armament. The design tested the limits of what was feasible at all in armored vehicles and remains one of the best known dead ends of armor development.
With a hull of this size it pays to start from the running gear and from any interior, which you finish and paint before you close the hull for good, because afterwards there is no getting to it. Glue the plastic with a thin model cement and sand the joints over once they have dried. Apply a primer before painting and lay the shades on with an airbrush. The large vertical armor surfaces positively invite weathering: accentuate the rivets and the details with a dark wash, then create dust and mud effects with pigments around the running gear and on the lower part of the hull.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
