The real subject

The Messerschmitt Bf 109 is a German single-seat fighter of the Second World War, and the G-6 version is among its most numerous production standards. You will recognize it by the prominent bulges on the cowling ahead of the cockpit, which had to make room for the breeches of the fuselage guns. The aircraft is otherwise small and slender, so every piece of lettering and every marking on it takes up a relatively large part of the surface.

Application tips

The wet procedure is usual with decal sheets, but before you soak the sheet, check in the instructions whether it is a self-adhesive version: a soaked self-adhesive film is irreversibly ruined, whereas an unsoaked waterslide decal can be soaked later. With a waterslide decal the proven procedure applies: cut the subject out close to the edge, lay it on a smooth glossy surface, help yourself with decal softener and blot away the excess water with a soft cloth. On matte clear coat the decal silvers.
