A set of photo-etched brass parts from Voyager Model, which replaces the simplified plastic pieces of the external equipment. There is no model of the tank in the package; the set serves for reworking a Tamiya 35269 kit obtained separately. It deals with stowage bins, baskets for materiel and identification panels, that is the equipment that on the real vehicles makes up most of what is visible above the armor in the silhouette.
The M1A1 and the M1A2 are modernized versions of the American M1 Abrams main battle tank, which from the 1980s went through several stages of changes to its armor, armament and instrumentation. The external equipment differs markedly between individual examples according to unit and deployment. The abbreviation CIP stands for the panels that make recognizing one's own vehicles easier. On a model these are flat plates, on which the excessive thickness of a plastic part is particularly noticeable.
With photo-etched parts the decisive stage is preparing the surface. Brass carries grease from production, from pressing and from fingers, and if you do not take it off, the paint flakes away at every touch once dry. So wash the finished assemblies before painting in warm water with detergent or wipe them with spirit, and handle them from then on only with tweezers or in gloves. A thin layer of a base meant for metal follows, sprayed ideally, because a brush leaves marks on smooth brass. Apply the covering shade only onto the base. If you want to suggest wear on the edges, do not try to rub through to the metal but use a lighter shade of the basic color. A metallic sheen looks unnatural on an area that is small in scale.
The set is an accessory for a kit, not a standalone model. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
