A set of one-piece road wheels produced by 3D printing by IBG models for models of the early versions of the Pz.Kpfw. II light tank in 1:35 scale. It is not a tank kit but a replacement part for a kit you already have.
The early series of the Pz.Kpfw. II had a different running gear from the later version: smaller road wheels carried on bogies with leaf springs, whereas the later versions received a smaller number of larger independently sprung wheels. Wheels from later kits therefore do not fit the early versions, and vice versa. It is precisely with this group of models that replacing the wheels pays off most, because a whole row of them is visible on each side of the running gear.
Why a one-piece version injection-molded road wheels tend to be split into two halves, and a gap appears around the circumference at the mold seam that has to be filled and sanded on every single wheel. A one-piece printed part does away with that work and keeps the tread detail crisp.
First separate the printed parts from the print supports and carefully sand the marks they leave, ideally wet and with respiratory protection. Then wash and degrease the parts, glue them with cyanoacrylate glue and apply a primer before painting; without it the paint does not hold well on printed resin. Paint the wheels off the model and fit them to a running gear that is already finished and painted, which saves you masking the tires.
