The second form of the front wheels of late production

Wheels for the steered axle with a deformed tire in the variant designated as type 2. It differs from the first form of the same range, so it is possible to choose the shape that matches a particular shot of the vehicle.

Tires from substitute compounds

In the last years of the war natural rubber was lacking and tires were made from synthetic substitutes. They were harder, stood up to load less well and wore out faster, which showed exactly on descents and off the road. In photographs from that time you will therefore find vehicles with mismatched wheels and visibly worn tires more often than in older shots.

• Before gluing, check whether the wheel is sitting crooked
• Consider whether only one wheel should be damaged
• Do not overdo the bulge of the sidewall when painting
• Dust the transition between the tire and the base lightly

When to reach for a marked deformation

A flat wheel is a strong element that draws attention at once. That is exactly why it pays to use it only once and to leave the rest of the vehicle in order. When the deformation appears on all the wheels at the same time, it loses its effect and the finished work starts to look more like carelessness than intent.
