An SX-Art paint mask for the model of the M29 Weasel tracked carrier in polar configuration, 1:35 scale. Intended for applying the color scheme with an airbrush.
Responsibility details are not available.
These templates from SX-Art were created for the 1:35 model of the small tracked machine as equipped for polar expeditions. The name of the item carries the abbreviated designation of the Arctic and Antarctic expedition. The carrier has a short body and several large flat areas, so every inaccuracy in the transition between colors shows on it at first glance.
The M29 was a light tracked carrier of American manufacture from the time of the Second World War. Thanks to its very wide tracks it had a low ground pressure, so it got through snow, mud and soft terrain where ordinary wheeled vehicles bogged down. After the war it found a second life with scientific and exploration expeditions to the polar regions, where it served as a towing and supply vehicle for many more years. It was exactly the polar machines that carried the most striking finishes.
Polar schemes tend to be strongly contrasting, usually with large areas of bright color. With those a thorough primer pays off; without it a light shade covers unevenly and has to be sprayed over again. Lay the mask on a completely dry surface and build the paint up gradually. Small burrs on the edge after removal can be leveled with a fine sanding sponge, and the area is then polished.
The package is an aid for painting; the vehicle itself has to be obtained separately.
