Photo-etched fenders for the KV-1 and KV-2 1:48 from the Czech maker Hauler replace the thick plastic fenders with thin brass sheet. An accessory for a model, not a kit. The set is intended for the Tamiya kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
A larger photo-etched set from the Czech maker Hauler which replaces the fenders on models of the Soviet KV-1 and KV-2 heavy tanks. It is not a kit: you get brass parts that are added to a model you have already built or part-built. Both vehicles shared the same hull, so one set covers both types. It is based on the dimensions of the Tamiya kit.
The fenders are long, narrow parts, and it is on these that it shows whether a modeler has a tool for bending. A bend made freehand or with tweezers comes out wavy, and on a long edge that is mercilessly visible. The ideal is a photo-etch bender, where the sheet is clamped between two straight jaws and bent along its whole length at once. If you do not have one, two razor blades or a steel ruler pressed to the board will do. Always bend along the line scored in the photo-etch; it sets the correct side of the bend.
A fender is in reality a thin sheet, but in a kit it has to have a thickness so that it can be released from the mold. On a visible edge it therefore looks like a plank. Photo-etch solves that problem completely and on top of that allows something that cannot be done with plastic - shaping a fender bent, torn or partly missing, that is, exactly the way vehicles looked after a longer spell in the field.
The accessory is supplied unpainted and without the base kit. Glue, paints and the model of the vehicle are not included in the package.
