A photo-etched set from Eduard in 1:35 scale for reproducing Zimmerit with a horizontal pattern on a model of the German Panther Ausf. D medium tank. Zimmerit is an imitation of the anti-magnetic protective coating applied to the surfaces of armored vehicles. The pre-formed photo-etched parts faithfully follow the texture of the coating. It is an accessory for a kit, not a standalone model.
The Panther Ausf. D was the first production variant of the German Panther medium tank. During the war Zimmerit was applied to the vertical surfaces of the hull and the turret to stop magnetic mines from sticking. The pattern of the coating differed according to the factory and the period; this set matches the horizontal version.
Separate the photo-etched parts carefully and lay them on the matching surfaces of the model, gluing them with cyanoacrylate glue and watching the correct direction of the pattern. Once they are in place, degrease the metal surfaces and apply a primer. The texture will then stand out with the use of washes and a dry brush.
This is an add-on photo-etched set, not a complete model. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
