A plastic kit of the Taiwanese wheeled armored vehicle CM-33 TIFV in 1:35 scale from the manufacturer AFV Club. The model captures the pre-production, that is the trial configuration of the machine, which differs in a range of details from the later production vehicles. For modelers of modern hardware it is a rarely seen subject, the kind that appears on display tables only exceptionally.
The CM-33, known under the name Clouded Leopard (Yunpao), is a Taiwanese armored personnel carrier with 8x8 drive, developed for the needs of the army of the Republic of China on Taiwan. The vehicle serves to carry infantry under armor protection and forms the core of the modernization of Taiwanese mechanized units. The pre-production machines were intended for troop trials and for proving the design; they differ from the production vehicles in small things on the hull and in the equipment, which makes them a rewarding theme for anyone who wants to build something other than the usual production configuration.
Begin the build with the running gear — on an 8x8 vehicle it pays to keep checking that all eight wheels settle on a flat base. Glue the small details with a thin cement for plastic, and the clear parts of the periscopes with a glue that does not go milky. Before painting, unify the surface with a primer, apply the camouflage with an airbrush and at the end liven the model up with a fine wash in the pressings and dust pigments on the running gear and the wheels.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
