Plants and Weeds D from Matho Models is a scenic material for creating low vegetation in 1:35 scale, the fourth variant of the popular vegetation range. It is not a finished decoration or a kit; the set is the raw material from which you create weeds and small plants to measure for your own scene. The individual sets of the range differ in the shapes of the plants, so they can be combined on one diorama with no repetition.
Set D finds a use everywhere nature is taking over: in ruins, around abandoned equipment, in the joints of paving, by crumbling walls and along field tracks. Overgrown details can tell a story; weeds growing through the tracks of a parked tank say more about the story of a scene than any caption. Combine the vegetation with static grass, stones and leaf fall for a full texture of the terrain.
Separate the plants carefully one at a time and bend their leaves with tweezers into a natural curve before gluing. Set them into the terrain with a drop of PVA glue; on smooth surfaces such as paving a predrilled hollow will help. Do the final toning only in place; a fine earthy pigment at the roots will visually join the plant to the surface and a dry pastel will unify the coloring of the whole scene.
