Photo-etched fenders for the Pz.Kpfw. IV Ausf. B and C in 1:35 scale are an add-on set for a plastic kit you already own, not a model. They replace the plastic fenders with metal at a thickness true to scale. Cut for the Dragon 6297 kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
An add-on set of photo-etched brass parts from Voyager Model, cut for the Dragon 6297 plastic kit. It is not a kit and not a finished model. The set deals with the fenders and the features attached to them above the running gear on the early versions of the medium tank.
The Pz.Kpfw. IV Ausf. B and C are early production versions of the German medium tank from the beginning of the Second World War, armed with a short 75 mm gun meant for support fire. They differ from the later versions in the arrangement of the superstructure and in details of the hull. The fenders on these vehicles were of thin sheet metal, with brackets and tread strips added, and in service they deformed easily.
A metal fender opens up possibilities plastic will not offer. Once painted, the edges can be lightly burnished with a hard eraser or fine abrasive paper, so that bare metal appears under the paint and behaves like genuine wear rather than a painted silver line. The effect works best where the crew really moved about, on the leading edges of the fenders and on the tread surfaces. Rust and mud are then applied with thinned washes and pigments into the recesses around the brackets. Lay the paint on the metal thinly and let it cure properly before burnishing, because a fresh coat comes away in whole patches.
The set is an accessory for a plastic kit and does not make up a model on its own. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
