The Jagdpanzer 38 is a German light tank destroyer from the last phase of the Second World War, built on the chassis of an older light tank and produced in Czech plants. Its gun was mounted rigidly in a closed casemate without a turret, which kept the vehicle low, cheap and quick to build. In modeling practice the name Hetzer has taken hold for it. The chassis carried four large road wheels on each side, and those are one of the first places a viewer looks at on the finished model.

The wheels of this vehicle were made in variants that differ in exactly that number of bolts and in the shape of the hub, so it is good to check the subject against a photograph of a particular machine. The name ties the set to kits from the Academy and Airfix brands; the exact number of pieces is given in the manufacturer's instructions.
Cut the surplus material and the traces of production away with a sharp blade a little from the part and sand the remainder back carefully, so that the sharp edge of the rim is preserved. Wash and degrease the parts before painting. Choose the glue by the material of the parts: cement for plastic models on polystyrene, cyanoacrylate glue on resin and printed parts. Glue the wheels on only after the tracks are fitted, otherwise the track will not pass between them. It is worth picking out the bolt heads in a dark shade and keeping the dust mostly on the underside, where it was thrown up from the ground.
