A kit of the heavy M110A2 self-propelled howitzer in 1:35 scale in the guise of the ground forces of the Republic of China (Taiwan), hence the abbreviation ROCA in the name. The model is built around an open tracked chassis with the gun mount at the rear and a large recoil spade that was dug into the ground before firing. Check the contents of the package, the number of sprues and the markings offered against the instructions supplied by the manufacturer.
The M110 is an American 203 mm self-propelled howitzer built on a tracked chassis shared with further types of artillery equipment. The M110A2 version is the last development stage of the line and is told apart by its lengthened barrel ending in a muzzle brake. The crew works on an unprotected platform and the ammunition is brought up by an accompanying vehicle. Besides the US Army the type served with a number of further users including the armed forces on Taiwan, which operated the machine in island conditions.
With open equipment the order of work decides the result: first finish and paint the running gear and the crew platform, and only then fit the barrel and the accessories that would be in the way. Fit the tracks once the chassis is painted. The model has large bare surfaces, so an even base coat and shading of the paint in the middle of the surfaces pay off. Deal with dust and mud with pigments on the underside of the hull and on the spade, and set the barrel and the muzzle brake apart with a fine metallic shade. Finally unify the whole with a matte varnish.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
