PANZER ART 1:35 wheels for the Rolls-Royce armored car

An accessory for modelers of military vehicles in 1:35 scale from the PANZER ART brand. The set replaces the wheels of a model of the British armored car Rolls-Royce and carries the Engelbert tire pattern. Replacement wheels tend to have a sharper rendering of the pattern and a more faithful shape than the plastic parts out of the kit, on which the parting line running around the circumference is moreover hard to remove. The vehicle model is not included in the package. On a vehicle with large exposed wheels this is the most conspicuous part of the whole build.

The real subject

The Rolls-Royce armored car came into being as early as the First World War and was still serving at the beginning of the Second, mainly in the Middle East and in North Africa. It was built on the chassis of a luxury car, which gave it a reliability the trucks of the day did not have. The wheels and tires were among its most vulnerable points, and in the desert spares were commonly carried.

Use

• wash the parts before gluing and let them dry completely
• check the axles dry, the wheels have to stand square and all of them bed down
• glue with cyanoacrylate
• give the parts a primer before painting, otherwise the paint may not hold
• patinate the tread with dust, it is on the wheels that patina shows up most
• leave the sidewalls of the tires darker than the tread, that matches real wear

The set is intended for modelers who build with an emphasis on detail. The model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
