Responsibility details are not available.
A base for a diorama on the theme of the urban fighting at Stalingrad. With ready terrain a display composition can be built over a single weekend: you reach straight for the paints and do not have to deal with a frame, fillers or texturing the surface.
The fighting for Stalingrad over the turn of 1942 and 1943 is among the largest engagements of the Second World War and took place largely among buildings, between the ruins of factories and apartment houses. For a modeler it is an exceptionally rewarding subject precisely because a ruined city offers plenty of shapes, surfaces and materials in a small space. A scene in 1:35 scale lets you work even with small things that would be lost in a smaller scale.
Masonry and plaster stand out when you play the base tone out in several close shades instead of a uniform surface. Choose the rubble and the dust lighter than the ground, otherwise the scene darkens and loses depth. Pick out the metal parts at the end with spot touches, so that they look like the sheen of handled material rather than a continuous coat. It is worth giving patience to soot and the traces of fire; apply them thinly and in layers.
Figures, hardware and paints are not part of the consignment; you put the composition together as you see fit.
