A photo-etched accessory set from the Czech manufacturer Eduard for 1:35 scale. It contains parts of thin sheet metal, which replace simplified plastic parts of the model of the BMP-3 infantry fighting vehicle and add elements with the real thickness of sheet metal. The set is fitted onto a model you already have built or have under construction.
The BMP-3 is a Soviet and later Russian tracked infantry fighting vehicle. It differs markedly from the older types of the BMP series in its layout: the engine is housed at the rear and the armament is concentrated in a single turret. It is made up of a short gun of 100 mm caliber, a coaxial automatic cannon of 30 mm caliber and a coaxial machine gun. The hull is welded from light alloys, the vehicle is amphibious and is driven in the water by waterjets. The outside is rich in small sheet metal elements, loops, grab handles, covers and grilles, that is precisely in what a photo-etched set deals with.
Separate the photo-etched parts with a scalpel against a hard surface, level the burrs with a file and make the bends in a bender. Apply the cyanoacrylate glue in the smallest amount, so that it does not run into the detail. Degrease the metal before painting and spray a primer on. With tracked equipment it is practical to have the running gear and the interior finished before the hull is closed up for good. For weathering, a dark wash into the seams proves its worth, as do dust pigments on the underside and the fenders and fine rubbing of the edges where the paint would really be worn away.
