E.T. Model 1:35 Russian T-80U Main Battle Tank is a photo-etched detail set made of thin metal for a model of the Russian T-80U main battle tank. It is an accessory for a model, not a kit.

The package holds photo-etched parts, that is parts etched out of thin sheet metal, intended to improve a plastic model of the Russian T-80U main battle tank in 1:35 scale. It is neither a model nor a kit. The photo-etched parts are used where injection-molded plastic cannot imitate thin sheet: the cooling and exhaust grilles, the rubber side skirts and their brackets, the covers, the loops, the lifting eyes, the clamps and the equipment brackets. Russian tanks are typically covered with a mass of small fittings and tarpaulins on the turret, and those are exactly the details that photo-etched parts bring out.
The T-80U is an upgraded version of the Soviet, and later Russian, T-80 main battle tank. What sets the T-80 family apart from the other Soviet tanks is its gas turbine drive, thanks to which the vehicle has extraordinary acceleration and a distinctive sound. The T-80U version was given strengthened protection including explosive reactive armor on the turret and the front of the hull, an upgraded fire control system and a large-caliber gun with an autoloader able to launch gun-fired guided missiles as well. The vehicle can be seen in Russian units and in export armies, and for the modeler it is rewarding thanks to its intricate surface.
Cut the parts with a sharp scalpel on a hard surface and fold them in a bender or between two razor blades. Glue them with the smallest possible amount of cyanoacrylate, or solder them. Degrease the metal before painting and brush on a metal primer. The side skirts can be realistically bent and lifted away in metal, which gives the vehicle life. Build the weathering on Russian vehicles up in layers: a wash in the engraving and around the reactive armor blocks, drybrushing on the edges, dust and mud on the underside and on the fenders.
This is an accessory set for advanced modelers. It does not hold a model or a kit, and glue and paints are not included in the package.
