A detailed plastic kit of the German StuG IV (Sd.Kfz.167) assault gun in its early production configuration, in 1:35 scale from Rye Field Model. This version concentrates on the external detail and the assembly — it offers workable tracks built from individual links, but it does not contain a full interior. Anyone who also wants a well-worked inside of the fighting compartment should choose the sister edition with a full interior.
The StuG IV was a German assault gun of the end of the Second World War that combined the proven gun superstructure with a 7.5 cm gun and the chassis of the Panzer IV tank. It appeared as a supplement to StuG III production and served for direct fire support of the infantry as well as an effective anti-tank weapon. The early configuration (Early) corresponds to an earlier production state of the vehicle.
It is practical to build and paint the workable link tracks separately and to fit them at the end. Use liquid cement on the plastic, treat the surface with a primer and spray with an airbrush. For the weathering, washes in the recesses, dust and mud pigments on the running gear and possible emphasis of the rivets and welds on the superstructure all work well.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
