Replacement resin wheels for the Sd.Kfz 222 in 1:35 scale, the early type 1 version, with weighted tires and a spare.
Responsibility details are not available.
This item is not a model of a vehicle but a set of replacement wheels that take the place of the ones in the box. The castings have tires deflected under the vehicle's own weight, so the finished model meets the surface with a flat contact patch instead of standing on tiptoe. The set is cut for the Tamiya kit. It also includes a spare wheel and corresponds to the early version with the tread pattern the manufacturer designates as type 1.
On the Sd.Kfz 222 light armored car the wheels are large and clearly visible, so the shape of the tire markedly changes the impression of the whole model. The real vehicle had soft tires that flattened under the weight of the hull. Injection-molded parts usually do not capture this, because the mold has to remain separable. The accessory is therefore one of the few modifications that show at first glance even when the rest of the model is built straight from the box.
Rinse the castings with water and dish soap and let them dry, otherwise the paint will not hold. Cut the casting residue away with a saw close to the contact face, so that the tread is not damaged. Fit the wheels so that the flat contact patch points downward and all four sit down equally; try it dry on a flat board. Bond the joints with cyanoacrylate glue and lay down a primer before painting.
The package contains resin wheels only. The base kit, paints and glue are not in it.
