The younger shape of the road wheel for the Sd.Kfz. 250, a set in 1:35 intended for kits of the Dragon brand.
Responsibility details are not available.
The light half-track vehicle appears in the equipment lists not as one type but as a whole family numbered after a slash. The first carried a patrol, the second laid telephone cable, the third was a radio vehicle with a loop antenna above the body, the fifth served artillery observers, the seventh carried an 8 cm mortar and another a short 75 mm barrel. The range ended at the eleventh with an anti-tank weapon. Common to them all was the same chassis, and therefore the same road wheels as well.
The set corresponds to the second of the two shapes used in the range. The choice between them is not cosmetic: together with the form of the body and the type of track link it determines which period a finished model belongs to.
The castings sit on the arms of the kit from Dragon without additional alteration. The recommended sequence of work is plain: separate the parts, clean up the seating faces, seat them and check whether the disks in both rows touch evenly. Anyone who wants to make the work easier will leave the wheels aside and paint them separately from the rest of the chassis; they are joined only at the very end, when both parts are finished. This procedure is the only sensible one with an interleaved arrangement, because once glued, the surfaces in the second row cannot be reached either with the thinnest brush or with the stream from an airbrush. A little extra patience is repaid here in the form of a chassis on which every single surface can be seen.
