1:35 Sd.Kfz 9 FAMO Drive Wheels (Early) from PANZER ART are drive sprockets of the early version for a model of the largest German half-track tractor of the Second World War.
Responsibility details are not available.
An accessory for builders of the heavy Sd.Kfz 9 FAMO half-track tractor in 1:35 scale. The name specifies that these are drive sprockets in the early rendition (Early); the later rendition differed from it in shape, so the choice of variant follows from which machine and from which part of the war you are building. The set does not contain the hull, the cab or the tracks, as those stay up to your kit.
The FAMO abbreviation belongs to the Breslau firm Fahrzeug- und Motorenwerke. It produced the schwerer Zugkraftwagen of the eighteen-ton category, the largest half-track tractor of the German army. It was the main recovery means of the Wehrmacht: it towed away damaged hardware, pulled heavy lowboy semi-trailers and with the heaviest tanks two or three machines were commonly harnessed at once, because a single one was not enough for a Tiger. It was precisely on recovery machines that the running gear was stressed, and in period photographs it tends to be heavily clogged.
The drive sprocket dictates how the whole track sits, so try joining it dry with the track and the row of road wheels first and only then glue for good. Watch the alignment with the hull, so that the track does not run off to the side. The teeth and their surroundings tend to be polished to a metallic sheen from engagement on the subject, which can be imitated with a careful stroke of a pencil or with metallic pigment, while the rest of the running gear can happily stay under a layer of dried mud.
