An injection-molded plastic kit of the German Sd.Kfz.253 half-track vehicle fitted with a turret from the Panzer I tank, in 1:35 scale from the maker Dragon. The model combines parts from the recent Sd.Kfz.250 line with a turret from the well-regarded Panzer I family; the turret can be built with the hatch open or closed and with a movable barrel. Snap-fit individual track links (Magic Tracks) which make the build easier are included. Check the exact contents of the package and the extent of the interior against the details on the box.
The Sd.Kfz.253 was a fully enclosed observation half-track of the family of light armored personnel carriers, serving as a vehicle for artillery observers. Unlike the standard half-tracks it had a completely covered fighting compartment. The model captures a rare field conversion in which a turret from the Panzer I light tank with machine gun armament was fitted onto the hull of the Sd.Kfz.253 — a form documented by a period photograph.
The snap-fit Magic Tracks make the otherwise lengthy assembly of the running gear easier; assemble and paint the running gear and the interior before you close the hull. Glue the parts with liquid cement for plastic. A wash in the recesses, emphasis of the edges and dust pigments on the running gear suit the German gray (or sand) finish; the Panzer I turret offers room for fine scuffs and traces of use.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
