A detail set of improvised armor of sandbags for the Sherman tank with HVSS suspension in 1:35 scale from LANMO Model. It contains 3D-printed resin parts imitating piled-up sandbags and photo-etched accessories. At the front, crews raised the protection of the hull and the turret this way by their own efforts. The set is intended for Shermans with HVSS running gear; it is not a standalone model but an accessory for a kit.
Late versions of the M4 Sherman tank received the more modern HVSS running gear (horizontal volute spring suspension) with wider tracks. Crews often added sandbags, wooden beams or spare track to the armor in order to raise their chance of surviving a hit from an anti-tank weapon. These field modifications give a model an authentic combat look.
Wash the resin parts to remove the mold release agent, cut the casting blocks off and sand with respiratory protection. Bond with super glue (cyanoacrylate). You will bring the textile texture of the bags to life with a dry brush and filters, and the photo-etched strips will finish the attachment off. Before gluing, check the fit with your particular Sherman HVSS kit.
This is an accessory detail set, not a standalone model. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
